2018 was an exciting and productive year and we would like to share some of the accomplishments with you. Any questions or comments are welcome.
- Established the KC LULAC Foundation
- Participated in and sponsored the Dr Hayes Bautista’s Cinco de Mayo event
- Collaborated with United Way, Pacific Head Start and Y2L
- KC LULAC members volunteered to read in Pacific Head Start Preschool classrooms
- KC LULAC partnered with United Way of Kern County and raised $3000 donated by KC LULAC members to set up a take-home library in one of the classrooms. The children can check out books to take home and return the next day.
- Pacific Head Start Preschool Halloween Golden Empire Transit (GET), KC LULAC and United Way of Kern County
- KC LULAC partnered with United Way of Kern County and GET to have the kids get onto on a bus decorated with the Hotel Transylvania movie characters and had Halloween books read to them.
- Set up bank account for Foundation
- Established 501c3 (Foundation)- submitted By-laws
- Set up a page for the Foundation on the website
- Raised and donated $3,000 for the Raise the Reader Program
- Donated to Hispanic daycare
- Started scholarship funds
- Set up PayPal for Giving Fund
- Set up social media accounts for LULAC and the Foundation – Facebook, Instagram & Twitter
- Held Citizens Workshop – over 60 community members
- Attended State and National Convention
- Public comments at two city council meetings in Arvin
- Set up Slack to help board members stay organized
- KC LULAC members attended the Aera Latino Employee Resource Group networking event in November. This included KC Latina Leadership members, Chevron Latino Employee Network and other community members
- Participated in the Univision Las Posadas gift giveaway
